CCSJ Athletics earns NAIA Champions of Character Five-Star Institution
Kansas City MO. – Every year, NAIA institutions demonstrate their progress in pursuing character-driven athletics on the field, in the classroom, and throughout their communities. The Champions of Character scorecard measures growth in training, promotion, conduct in competition and commitment in the five core areas – integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
The Champions of Character list was announced by the NAIA national office Wednesday, July 31, recognizing Calumet College of St. Joseph as one of the 209 NAIA member institutions' winners. CCSJ received the Champions of Character Five-Star 'Silver' level. Crimson Wave Athletic teams earned these honors through their volunteerism on and off campus, GPAs and character, and sportsmanship during competitions.
Institutions are measured on a demonstrated commitment to Champions of Character and earn points in character training, conduct in competition, academic focus, character recognition, and character promotion. Institutions earned points based on exceptional student-athlete grade point averages and by having minimal to no ejections during competitions throughout the course of the academic year.
