Sinde Named Competitive Cheer Coach

Crimson Wave Athletics is excited to announce the hiring of Shannon Sinde as the 2nd Competitive Cheer Coach in Calumet College history. The Pandemic put a pause to many athletic ventures for the Crimson Wave, but the start of the Sprint Football team was an opportunity for the Cheerleading team to start again. 

Athletic Director, Andy Marks said, "Shannon is a great addition to the department. She brings a ton of enthusiasm and excitement. She will be a great coach and we are looking forward to her success and bringing the Crimson Wave Cheer Team to life."

Sinde is excited to get started and said "as this is a new program I hope to bring in as many athletes as possible to grow the team with hard work and dedication. I think the team will go far. I can't wait for the spirit side as well as the competition side, and my goal is to make it Nationals." 

Sinde was drawn to Calumet College because of the atmosphere and staff, but also the construction of dorms being an intriguing factor. "For a student to be able to have dorms that close to school with a wonderful view, and be able to get athletic scholarships is amazing."

When asked about her coaching style and philosophy, Sinde said " I believe that everyone is able to do anything if they work hard and stay focused. They should all be treated equally and pushed for success. I always say never say 'I can't,' because you can if you really want it."

The Crimson Wave Cheer Team will have its first official season in Fall of 2022, cheering at Sprint Football, Basketball, and other games and events in preparation for their competition season. Sinde said, "I am so thankful for this opportunity and I know that this team is going to be successful and I can't wait to get started!"
