MSFL Declares CCSJ vs SMWC Sprint Football Game a No Contest
Due to inclement weather during the first quarter of Saturday's game, multiple lightning delays eventually lead into the cancellation of the contest.
Whiting, IN – According to the Midwest Sprint Football League, the game between Calumet College of St. Joseph and St. Mary-of-the-Woods originally scheduled for Saturday, October 18, has officially been declared a no contest and will not be resumed.
During the opening quarter of Saturday's game, the first lightning delay took place just five minutes into the action. The lightning continued throughout the evening, teams were not allowed to retake the field and the game was ultimately called off after conditions did not improve.
A statement has been made by the MSFL on what would occur in the future in the event of a tiebreaker scenario.
"Per MSFL by-laws, if both SMWC and CCSJ finish the regular season with identical records, the league will conduct a coin flip as the final tiebreaker between the two teams. MSFL Commissioner Ron Prettyman will oversee the coin flip on Sunday, Nov. 2, at 1 p.m. (ET) via live stream. The league and both institutions will announce the results immediately following the stream.
The tiebreaker procedure will only be necessary if both programs close the regular season with identical records and each team advances with victories in their respective MSFL Semifinal matchups."
