Jason Novak was named the program's very first head coach in June 2021 and the Crimson Wave Sprint Football team began its inaugural season in the fall of 2022. During that inauguaral season, the football team ended the regular season 5-2 and reached the postseason championship game.

Entering his fourth season as the Crimson Wave Sprint Football's head coach, he's led the group to an all-time record of 18-6 and a postseason record of 4-1. The team has hoisted two Midwest Sprint Football League Championships (2023 & 2024) and was crownded conference champion in 2022. Novak was named Coach of the Year by the MSFL in 2024 and was named Coach of the Year by the Crimson Wave Athletic Department in 2024-25 as well. 39 of his players have earned All-Conference honors and 29 have received All-American recognition.

Prior to CCSJ, Novak served as the offensive line coach and run game coordinator at Andrean High School during their 2021 season. In 2020, he helped Andrean win the Northwest Crossroads Conference Championship as well as the IHSAA Class 2A Sectional Championship.

Novak was apart of the Portage High School football team coaching staff as the offensive line coach in 2019. Before that, he spent five seasons as the football head coach at East Chicago Central High School. At EC Central, Novak helped the Cardinals notch their first Great Lakes Athletic Conference Championship and was named the GLAC Coach of the Year. As of September 2024, Novak is now apart of the East Chicago Hall of Fame.

His first head coaching opportunity came when Clark High School appointed him as football head coach during the 2012 season.

Novak has an M.S. in Recreation and Sports Science, was a member of the IFCA for 26 years and is currently a AFCA member.
