Bio
Sam Daniels was named the women’s flag football coach on September 15, 2025.
Prior to transitioning to this role at CCSJ, Daniels has been a coach on the Crimson Wave Sprint Football team since 2023. He was the defensive backs coach in 2023-24, helping CCSJ win back-to-back Midwest Sprint Football League championships. He was promoted in 2025 as the sprint football team’s defensive coordinator, helping lead a top-performing defensive unit within the MSFL.
Before joining CCSJ, he was the boys and girls assistant track & field coach at Portage High School from 2020-23. With Portage, Daniels implemented regimes that helped multiple athletes qualify at state, including a state champion in boys long jump in 2022. Along with the individual state champion, the girls relay team broke the 4x100 and 4x400 school record in 2023.
From 2019-22, Daniels was the defensive backs coach for the Portage High School football team.
Prior to that, he was at East Chicago High School from 2015 to 2019, serving the role as the assistant head coach and defensive coordinator for the football team, as well as the boys assistant track & field coach.
Throughout his ten years of coaching so far, Daniels has now helped two athletes become Indiana Basketball All-Stars and four athletes become Indiana Track All-Stars. Three football players have also earned all-state honors under his helm, multiple track & field athletes qualified for state, and one became a state champion.
Most recently, Daniels was the defensive coordinator of the sprint football that allowed the fewest points per game, fewest rush yards per game and fewest pass yards per game. The defense scored three touchdowns and had 18 sacks on the year, tied for the most of any defense within the MSFL.
