Men Take First Victory of the Season
The Crimson Wave men's basketball team will celebrate their first victory of the season against Cardinal Stritch University. The game was played at the Rittenmeyer Athletic Center on the campus of Calumet College of St. Joseph.
The Crimson Wave had a very well fought neck and neck game against the Cardinal Stritch University Wolves. The half ended 27-25 as the Crimson Wave headed into the locker room trailing by 2 points.
Coming out of the break the CCSJ and the Wolves matched each other shot for shot with neither gaining more than a 6 point lead. With 5 minutes remaining the Crimson Wave went on a run pulling away from the Wolves and finding themselves leading by 10 points. With less than a minute left in play CCSJ had nothing but big smiles on their faces looking to see their first victory.
CCSJ had played a game to remember beating the Wolves 70-56. The men put on a career night with Travis McBride (SR/Chicago, Ill. ) leading the way with 23 points, 5 assists, 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Right behind him was Daniel Carey (FR/Merrillville, IL) with 20 points and 6 rebounds while Na'Shawn Howze contributed with 17 points and 5 boards. Ion Falkner (SR/Gary, Ind.) had the sticky hands tonight snagging 11 rebounds and putting up 8 points while dishing out 3 assists in the win.
The Crimson Wave are now 1-6 overall and 1-6 in the CCAC. CCSJ will play at Governors State University on February 18th at 4:30 pm.
