Malik Petty named CCAC Offensive Player of the Week
Chicago, IL – Congratulations to junior Malik Petty from Chicago, Illinois on being named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week. Tuesday morning, the league office announced that Petty was the recipient of the fourth men's basketball weekly honor for the 2025-26 season.
Playing three games in four days, Petty averaged 20.3 points per contest while shooting 21-of-33 (63.6 percent) from the field and 9-of-14 (64.3 percent) from 3-point range. He was perfect on his 10 free throw attempts and accumulated seven rebounds, six steals and five assists throughout the stretch that helped earn him this honor.
Petty recorded his first 20-point performance in only his second game of the season, against Saint Xavier University on Wednesday, November 19. He shot 60 percent (6-of-10) for the game, making three of his four 3-pointers. He later helped the Crimson Wave earn their first win of the season over East-West University 81-55 on Friday, November 21. Petty had the third-highest point total in that contest with 14 points, shooting 6-of-12 from the field.
The following day on the road, CCSJ traveled to Notre Dame, Indiana to take on the Holy Cross Saints. Petty exploded for a game-high and season-high 26 points, on 9-of-11 shooting from the field and 6-for-7 shooting from behind the arc. In the Crimson Wave's second win, he also had four rebounds, four assists and one steal in 32 minutes of action.
Petty has been a vital part of the CCSJ's two wins so far this season, after beginning the year 0-5. Three of the Crimson Wave's next six games will be at home before heading into the new year.
