Banks Qualifies for NAIA Outdoor Championships
The Crimson Wave Track and Field teams competed at the Cougar Invitational at Concordia University in Chicago, IL today. The Crimson Wave were led by a national qualifying performance from Demetrius Banks in the high jump.
Banks cleared the bar at 2.02m (6'7") to qualify for the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Banks becomes the second CCSJ Track and Field Athlete to qualify this season.
Antonio Kneeland won the 110m Hurdles for the Crimson Wave before Jaelen Love took second place in the 200m Dash in 23.04s. Ion Faulkner took 10thin the 400m dash while Hector Martinez took 6thin the 800m Run. Martinez also had a good showing in the 1500m Run finishing 5thoverall. Rakeem Bluitt added to CCSJ's top ten finishes taking 2ndin the 3000m Run.
Robert Davis added to his success this season staying undefeated in the Long Jump. Ronnie Strain took home two wins at Concordia in the Discus and Hammer Throw.
The Crimson Wave women enjoyed a successful meet as Delilah Delgado won the 800m run and Kellyn Vale won the 1500m run. Grace Dwyer and Daniella Nino took second and third in the 3000m run. Keara Wisek took 10thin the 200m Dash while teammate Krystina Barksdale grabbed a fourth-place finish in the Shot Put with teammates Desiree Vega and Hannah Carr finishing right behind in fifth and sixth.
