Blacknell Wins Big at CCAC Championships
Crimson Wave men’s track and field runner Deveyon Blacknell proved he is one of the top runners in the CCAC this weekend. Blacknell won his signature events, the 100m and 200m sprints at the CCAC Conference Championships in Joliet, IL this weekend.
Blacknell won the 200m in 21.53 while taking the 100m's in 10.68. He has been unstoppable in these two events this season winning CCAC Player of the Week honors in April when he won both events at the Tiger Invitational.
"I doubted myself through the whole season and thought the goals that I set were unattainable. But through many prayers, a supportive team, and a great coach, the sky was the limit," said Blacknell on his CCAC performance.
The CCAC wins gives Blacknell the All-Conference nod in each event.
"This year has been nothing short of a dream, with all the adversity we faced from COVID to coaching changes this team found a way to not only overcome all of it but come together and create a bond within each other that we haven't had before. I am grateful to be able to be apart of there journey and to lead them as we continue to grow. We talked all year about taking everything we wanted from this year after so much being taken from us before. These athletes are an inspiration to each other and me. I'm excited for the future of the program and how much better we will get," said Head Coach Matt Rosado
