Wrestling Completes UW-Oshkosh Dan Gable Open
OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Crimson Wave wrestling team again took to the mats this past Saturday, and once again came away with multiple place winners in the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Dan Gable Open.
Making an impressive debut for the Crimson Wave was senior Chanc Ravish, who led the team with five wins en route to a 3rd-place finish at 157 pounds. Also turning in solid performances to reach the award stand were sophomore Taylor Wright and seniors Ramiro Rojas and Scott Pitrowski.
Wright at 133 pounds and Pitrowski at 285 each clawed their way to 5th-place while Rojas ended the day with 6th-place at 149 pounds.
Despite the team's success at the Open, head coach Ryan Rivera was not satisfied.
"We are still progressing well, but overall, we lost too many close matches," he said. "That can't happen - we are going to work to scrap even harder in those tough spots.
"Talent isn't enough in a close match; you have to attack and go take the W."
Next week the team travels to Millikin University in Decataur, Ill., for a dual tournament on Nov. 19 at 11:00 am.
