Crimson Wave Softball splits doubleheader against Oakland City
The CCSJ softball team split a doubleheader against Oakland City on Saturday, February 24 at the East Gibson Girl’s Softball League Field. The Wave fell in Game 1, 5-4, but bounced back in Game 2, 6-3.

Oakland City
Oakland City, IN – The Calumet College of St. Joseph softball team split a doubleheader against Oakland City on Saturday, February 24 at the East Gibson Girl's Softball League Field. The Wave lost 5-4 in Game 1, but bounced back in Game 2, 6-3.
Game One: Oakland City 5, CCSJ 4 – 9 innings
In Game 1, Oakland City got out to a 4-0 lead after the first two innings. CCSJ would score its first run in the third inning after Kylee Slack's sacrifice fly out allowed Aubrie Morales to score.
Roxanne Ines had a hit at the top of the fourth inning that helped Kylee Bunnell score and cut the lead to two. At the top of the fifth, Kathryn O'Brien hit a base hit that brought Geralyn Barton and Kira Pride home and tied the game at four.
Both teams went scoreless in the sixth, seventh and eighth inning before Oakland City scored one run in the ninth inning to close the game.
O'Brien and Bunnell had two hits each in the loss. Jacci Piper pitched seven innings and allowed eight hits. Codilyn Olds pitched one inning and allowed three hits.
Game Two: CCSJ 6, Oakland City 3
In Game 2, Calumet College found themselves trailing by three in the third inning. At the top of the fourth, the Wave scored their first run after a Kylee Slack single to left field.
At the top of the fifth inning, CCSJ scored four runs to take its first lead of the game. Two errors by Oakland City led to two runs scored for the Crimson Wave. Moments after that, Adelina Staden smashed a home run to center field, giving Calumet College a 5-3 advantage.
Scoring one more run in the sixth, CCSJ was able to put away Oakland City and split the doubleheader. Kylee Slack had two hits and Staden had two RBIs in the win. Kenzie Lanman pitched all seven innings and only four hits and three runs on 110 pitches.
