Crimson Wave Softball run-rules IUPUC for road doubleheader sweep
The CCSJ softball team scored 42 runs on the road in a doubleheader sweep over IUPUC on Sunday, February 25 at the Cera Sports Park and Campground.

Columbus, IN – The Calumet College of St. Joseph softball team scored 42 runs on the road in a doubleheader sweep over IUPUC on Sunday, February 25 at the Cera Sports Park and Campground.
In game one, the Crimson Wave scored eight runs in the fifth inning to put away IUPUC 17-6 in five innings to end the game by the run-rule decision. In game two, the Wave posted 10 runs in the second inning and nine runs in the fourth inning to run-rule IUPUC 25-3 and complete the doubleheader sweep.
Game 1: CCSJ 17, IUPUC 6 – 5 innings
Both teams scored two runs in the first inning and it wasn't until the second inning that you saw a substantial difference within the lead.
In the second inning, Roxanne Ines hit a double that brought Ashley Meade and Jacqueline Marquez home. Shortly after, Aubrie Morales smacked a home run that brought Ines and Ryan Regnier home, expanding the CCSJ lead to five.
At the bottom of the third inning, IUPUC would respond with five hits that lead to four runs, bringing the score to 7-6.
In the top of the fourth, Morales would hit a double and Adelina Staden would record a base hit, scoring two runs for the Wave in the inning.
Already with a two-point lead, Calumet College scored eight runs in the top of the fifth inning to give them a chance to finish the game early. Both Kylee Slack and Marquez hit home runs, which scored four runs in total. Staden had two hits while Morales and Regnier had one each to help score four more runs.
For the game, Marquez had four hits while Staden, Ines and Morales had three hits each. Morales also recorded a team-high four RBIs.
Kylee Bunnell pitched all five innings for the Wave. She allowed nine hits, five earned runs and threw four strike outs.
Game 2: CCSJ 25, IUPUC 3 – 5 innings
The bats were hot for the Wave in game two, scoring 10 runs in the top of the second inning. CCSJ would score four more runs in the third and nine more in the fourth to record its most hits this season of 20. Throughout the game, Kira Pride, Jacqueline Marquez and Geralyn Barton each had home runs. Barton and Bailey King had four RBIs each as well.
In game two, Kylee Slack and King had three hits each while Aubrie Morales, Adelina Staden, Alex Navarro, Kathryn O'Brien and Marquez had two hits apiece. Victoria Jenson gave up six hits and pitched three strike outs in the first three innings, while Kylee Bunnell gave up one hit in two innings pitched.
