“I’m humbled and excited at the opportunity to serve as the first-ever Defensive Coordinator at Calumet College of St. Joseph. I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead to help build the sprint football program with the coaching staff, administration, and athletic department.”

Coach Miller is entering his 13th year coaching Football, overall and will serve as the Crimson Waves Defensive Coordinator and Linebacker Coach this year. He brings a diverse background with him and is looking forward to the challenge of helping the coaching staff bring a Midwest Sprint Football League (MSFL) Championship to CCSJ! 

Miller is an initiative-taking, dedicated coach who has experience coaching highly competitive football teams at the Professional, College, and High School levels. Having a successful history of managing football programs, recruiting, player development, and winning football games. He is always finding creative ways to inspire action, beat opponents, and motivate coaches and players. Over his career Coach Miller has experience as a Head Coach-Offensive Coordinator-Defensive Coordinator-Offensive Line Coach-Defensive Line Coach- Linebackers Coach and Special Teams.

We will Outwork, Out Hustle and be more Physical than any Defense this year in the Midwest Sprint Football League (MSF), it starts Day #1 in camp and will not stop until the final snap in the Championship Game, which is our GOAL this year!  

Prior to taking the Defensive Coordinator Job at CCSJ, Coach Miller had been coaching the last 5 years in the Professional Indoor Football (IFL) www.goifl.com The Indoor Football League is the premier professional development league in the United States and abroad. The IFL is home to the best indoor football players in the world. Other leagues such as the NFL and CFL have also recognized the quality of the athletes playing in the IFL and annually both leagues sign players from IFL rosters, many of which have gone on to become full-time starters in those leagues. In fact, 80+ players that have competed in the IFL have signed contracts to play in the NFL or CFL. In this regard, the IFL is one of the most respected professional football leagues in the country.

 

Pro Coaching Career:

Tucson Sugar Skulls (IFL) 2020: Coach Miller served as the assistant head coach, offensive line coach. Shortly after training camp, the season was cut short due to the pandemic. 

Iowa Barnstormers (IFL) 2019: Coach Miller was the Defensive Coordinator and Defensive Line and Linebackers Coach with the IFL Reigning Championship Team the Iowa Barnstormers. Coach Miller's defense finished the season with a 12-2 regular season record only giving up 37.3 points per game with a league-leading 22 interceptions and 14 sacks. 

During his tenure as the defensive coordinator, Miller's defense was ranked among the top 3 defenses in the IFL while coaching several players that made All-IFL Defensive Team and Defensive Rookie Player of the Year. The Barnstormers went on a 7-game winning streak and made it to the 2019 United Bowl Conference Championship eventually losing to the Sioux Falls Storm 52-50 in a down to the wire game. 

 Green Bay Blizzard (IFL): 20017-18 coached for the Green Bay Blizzard during the (2017-2018) seasons, filling the role of Offensive Run Game Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach. Both years the Blizzard's rushing attack was ranked in the top 5 in rushing yards per game while giving up the least number of sacks two years in a row. Miller's Green Bay Blizzard offensive line groups prided themselves on being tough blue-collar hard-working guys, who like to run the football. 

Chicago Eagle (CIF): 2015-16 Miller got his start in Professional Indoor Football with the Chicago Eagles (CIF) working in the front office serving as the Player Personnel Director in Charge of Scouting, and on the field as the Offensive Line Coach. Miller gained valuable experience in his first year, learning how to build a viable competitive expansion professional indoor football franchise from the ground up. 

                             

High School Coaching Career:

Coach Miller has been involved in coaching High School Football in and around the Region and Chicagoland Area. He has had the opportunity to coach with several schools over the past 5 years. Miller has coached 10 All-conference players and Two All-State Players in his first 5 seasons.

Most recently with Shepard High School, in Palos Hills Illinois, serving as the Defensive Line Coach, helping the Astros make the 2019 IHSA 6A playoffs for the first time in 15 years while developing several defensive line players, all receiving various scholarship offers from D1, D3, and NAIA schools. 

In 2018 Coach Miller served as the Defensive Coordinator for class 3A Hanover Central High School where his defense was ranked in the top 25 in the state, while his student-athletes set several defensive team and individual records. Overall, his defense had 670 Total Team Tackles 18th in the State in Class 3A 13.5 sacks 19th, and 14 Interceptions which was tenth best overall in 3A. Two of his all-conference defensive players moved on to Wabash and College of DuPage while helping another player get recruited to Albion College

 In 2016-2017 Coach Miller was the Defensive Coordinator for Roosevelt High School on the North Side of Chicago in the Chicago Public League coaching a relentless defense in the CPS league and developing several defensive student-athletes securing college placement at the likes of North Park, and Beloit College. 

Coach Miller also works for NCSA National College Scouting Association, working in the football evaluation department. He is responsible for evaluating and compiling scouting reports of high school football players from all over the country then matching Student-Athletes with prospective College Football Programs. To date, he has done over 12k player evaluations in the past 4 years.

 

Other Information:

Coach Miller also owns and operates Big Dawg Linemen Academy, a football skills training company for offensive and defensive linemen. In his coaching career, Coach Miller has coached numerous players who have earned many post-season awards including All-State, All-Regional, and All-Conference recognition. Under his guidance, many of his former students have gone on play college football. 

Before professional football Coach Miller taught for over 10 years in the private special education sector at the high school level, for High-Risk Students. He also has served as a Big Brother and Mentor at several Residential Group Homes in the city of Chicago, understanding how important it is to be a role model for young men while giving back to the community.
