Smith earns all-CCAC recognition for 2025-26 season
As the post season awards were announced Monday, March 2 for the 2025-26 women's basketball season, junior Jayonna Smith received CCAC honors.
Chicago, IL – Calumet College of St. Joseph's junior guard Jayonna Smith was recognized by the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) as the post season women's basketball awards were announced Monday.
In her first season with the Crimson Wave, the Chicago, Illinois native averaged 10.5 pts, 8.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.5 steals and one block in her 24 games played. Smith had seven games this season where she posted a double-double and on two separate occasions, was flirting with a triple-double.
On October 30 vs Grace Christian, Smith stuffed the stat sheet with a line of 23 pts, 10 rebounds, eight steals, four assists and two blocks to help the Wave win their first game of the season. On January 12 against Great Lakes Christian, Smith had 16 pts, 12 rebounds, seven assists and three steals in the loss.
Smith also had an outstanding performance to help CCSJ win its first conference game since 2020, posting 12 pts, nine rebounds, seven assists and two steals in the 59-58 win over Mount Mary.
