Crimson Wave finish 4th at Hammer Golden Eagle Invite
Qualifying second amongst 15 teams, the CCSJ Women's Bowling team earned a 4th place finish at the Hammer Golden Eagle Invite in Rockford, Illinois.
Rockford, IL – The Calumet College of St. Joseph Women's Bowling team opened its 2025-26 season with its usual tournament of the Hammer Golden Eagle Invite. Winner two years ago and a runner-up finish last season, CCSJ still placed in the top-five this year as they came in fourth place.
The two-day tournament would consist of baker games leading into a bracket style competition that would determine a tournament champion.
Amongst 15 teams, the Crimson Wave's women's bowling team qualified for 2nd place with a score of 7110, trailing first-place Judson who qualified with a score of 7670.
CCSJ fell in its first bracket match to ultimately earn a 4th place finish.
"They really gelled well together and found their groove as a new team with only two returning players in Morgan Schoon and Samantha Smolen, Shawna Fizer, our transfer and freshman Robin Edwards and Ariana Woodcock-Bilger," women's head bowling coach Linda Olszewski said.
CCSJ has remained consistent in this tournament over the years, having a top-five finish the past four years. Individually, Smolen finished 10th, Schoon finished 12th, Woodcock-Bilger finished 14th and Fizer finished 16th.
The JV Women's Bowling team also competed and finished in 6th place with a score of 5439.
