CCSJ Women's Bowling finishes top-10 at Columbia 300 Western Shootout
The Crimson Wave women's bowling team placed 9th at the Columbia 300 Western Shootout on Sunday, October 12.
Indianapolis, IN – The Calumet College of St. Joseph Women's Bowling team competed in the Columbia 300 Western Shootout on both Saturday, October 11 and Sunday, October 12.
CCSJ finished the weekend in 9th place out of 28 teams. Competing in six games on Saturday, the Crimson Wave were in 15th place after the first game but rose to 11th by the end of the day finishing with a total score of 5329.
After the baker games Sunday, the Wave finished in the top-10 with a final score of 8374.
The women's bowling team set new personal records this weekend, scoring a 1068 in one game, which is a tournament high team game. They also set their personal best for a tournament high team baker game with 255.
Individually, Samantha Smolen led CCSJ, finishing 19th overall with a total score of 1172. Ariana Woodcock-Bilger came in 35th place and Morgan Schoon came in 47th place. Shawna Fizer Fizer was also 56th individually and Robin Edwards was 124th.
Women's head bowling coach Linda Olszewski said it was a great weekend for the team placing 9th against a field of some of the most talented teams in the country, while also producing a few highlights.

The Crimson will be back in action on Saturday, November 8 when they compete in the Leatherneck Classic in Rockford, Illinois at The Cherry Bowl.
