East Chicago, IN – The Calumet College of St. Joseph women's soccer team fell in its first Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference game of the season against Indiana University Northwest 5-1 at East Chicago Central High School on Saturday.
How it Happened
Indiana University Northwest struck first in the 17th minute to take an early lead they would later build on. The Redhawks scored two more goals before halftime, putting the Wave 3-0 deficit.
IUN scored one more goal before CCSJ broke through and recorded their first goal of the game. Nikolina Panagiotou scored her fifth goal of the season, assisted by Regan Hornyak at the 52nd minute. The Redhawks responded within the next minute and ended up winning the game 5-1.
Goalkeepers Kaleigh Blatti had eight saves while facing 13 shots on goal and Sabrina Ramsay had five saves in 26 minutes of play. Offensively, CCSJ was outshot 28-3 in the loss.
