East Chicago, IN – The Calumet College of St. Joseph women's soccer team earned its first Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference win of the season after defeating Mount Mary 2-0 on Tuesday evening at East Chicago Central High School.
The victory marked the first CCAC win by the women's soccer team since October 20, 2021.
How it Happened
In a game in which the rain played a pivotal factor, the Crimson Wave were still able to put pressure on the Blue Angels with a total of nine shots. Nine shots in one game tied the third most shots attempted by CCSJ in a game this season.
Lidia Rodriguez scored a goal within 10 minutes of play, her fifth of the season, and freshman Sabrina Ramsay scored her first goal of the year in the 25th minute.
The physical contest saw a total of 14 fouls combined from both teams, with Mount Mary earning a yellow card. CCSJ controlled the tempo of the game, only allowing one shot.
The game was called with 16:14 left on the clock due to inclement weather.
