Dwyer Wins at CCAC Championships
Crimson Wave women’s track and field runner Grace Dwyer adds to her already successful senior year. Dwyer won the 3000m Steeple Chase and the 1500m run this weekend at the CCAC Cross Country Championships in Joliet, IL.
Dwyer finished the 1500ms in 4:44.48 and the 300m Steeple Chase in 11:52.14.
"I feel like this is always so hard when I have time to think about it. I would say that I'm glad to end my career with the team atmosphere and memories of conference. Every win and PR felt shared and the excitement for each other was so genuine. As for myself, I had a really big realization winning the 1500m, which again felt like a team effort and I owe it to coach Matt and the team for helping me get to the line with a goal and execute," Said Dwyer on her performance at the CCAC Championships.
Dwyer also qualified for the NAIA Cross Country Championships this year to cap an amazing athletic year.
"This year has been nothing short of a dream, with all the adversity we faced from COVID to coaching changes this team found a way to not only overcome all of it but come together and create a bond within each other that we haven't had before. I am grateful to be able to be apart of there journey and to lead them as we continue to grow. We talked all year about taking everything we wanted from this year after so much being taken from us before. These athletes are an inspiration to each other and me. I'm excited for the future of the program and how much better we will get," Said Head Coach Matt Rosado
