ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - CCSJ cross country went out for an evening stroll on Friday, as the bunch traveled to compete in the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational for both the Crimson Wave men and women.
It was an exciting outing for the CCSJ women's side of the race, as three runners finished in the top 56 out of 226 participants in the 3K. Harley Sutton (26:04) narrowly outdid teammate Dayanir Montoya, who finished at 26:06, good enough for 51st-place.
Kellyn Vale was not far behind in 56th-place with a finishing time of 26:17.
The top five for the Crimson Wave was wrapped up when Celeste Rosillo and Danielle Weems crossed the finish line at 27:45 and 28:41, respectively.
As a team, the women finished in 13th-place out of 26 squads with a collective time of 203:54.
The calendar will turn to October before the cross country squads get out and stretch their legs again. At that point in time, the SAU Fighting Bee Invitational will take place on Oct. 8 at 10 a.m. in Bettendorf, Iowa.
