Men's Volleyball earns first win of the season against Roosevelt
Whiting, IN - After two tough losses to start the conference season, Calumet College Men's Volleyball headed to Chicago to take on Roosevelt in their first away game of the year. The Crimson Wave earned their first win of the season as they took down the Lakers 3-0 on Thursday.
Roosevelt got the first point of the set, but the Crimson Wave quickly took the lead and stayed ahead of the Lakers for the entire set to win 25-19. Set 2 was a similar story, the Crimson Wave winning 25-19 and having a 2-0 lead going into the 3rd set. Roosevelt battled the Crimson Wave for the lead in the final set until the end. As the Lakers pushed for the final points, CCSJ came out with the 27-25 set win.
Francis Hauze led the Wave, scoring 21 kills with 6 digs and 1 block. Pedro Castillo had 7 kills with 2 service aces, 3 digs, and 2 blocks. Thomas Garbutt had 1 service ace and 5 blocks for CCSJ. Ari Moen led with 25 assists, 1 kill, 1 service ace, 5 digs, and 1 block.
The Crimson Wave are back at The Ritt. on Saturday to host Goshen College at 2 PM.
