Crimson Wave Men’s Volleyball takes down Dordt Saturday
The CCSJ men’s volleyball team beat Dordt (IA) 3-0 on Saturday, February 3 at the Jamestown Invitational inside the Harold Newman Arena.
Jamestown, ND – On the second day of the Jamestown Invitational, the CCSJ men's volleyball team swept Dordt 3-0 at the Harold Newman Arena on Saturday, February 3.
Halfway through the first set, both teams were tied at 12 before CCSJ scored seven of the next eight points. Throughout the run, Dordt committed four errors, Gioele Iacono served one ace, Francis Hauze had one kill and both Pedro Castillo and Agustin Moreno had one block. To end the set, Hauze had one more set followed by an attack error by Dordt to close it out.
The second set was similar to the first as both teams battled back and forth finding themselves tied at 20. After attack errors on both sides, Hauze and Daniel Lopez would both get a kill to end the set 25-23.
In the third set, CCSJ notched five kills in its first eight points to take an 8-4 lead. Holding on to a slight lead, the Crimson Wave managed to score on eight of the last nine points, including the final four, to secure the win.
Hauze led the Wave with 15 kills while both Lopez and Pedro Castillo had seven kills each. Gustavo Medina led the team with 10 digs and Castillo led the team with 23 assists.
