Crimson Wave Men’s Volleyball drop three close sets to Life
Playing at a neutral site in Campbellsville, Kentucky, the CCSJ Men’s Volleyball team lost to Life 3-0 on Friday, March 1 at the Gosser Gymnasium.
Campbellsville, KY – The Calumet College of St. Joseph Men's Volleyball team fell to Life 3-0 at the Gosser Gymnasium on Friday, March 1. Each set within the sweep was competitive, as they all were decided by three points or less.
In the opening set, Life was able to record a game-high 15 kills. The Crimson Wave were fighting from behind the entire first set. When Life scored its 24th point, CCSJ was able to put together four straight points ito make the set close, but ultimately fell at 25-22.
In the second set, Life scored the first five points to separate from the Wave. CCSJ made a flurry late, nearly identical to the first set, but it wasn't enough as an attack error by the Crimson Wave gave Life its final point.
CCSJ was right with Life in the third set before Life scored three straight points to take a 19-14 advantage. The Crimson Wave would rally to bring the score within two at 22-20, but Life used three kills down the stretch to close out the Wave and complete the sweep.
The Crimson Wave were led by Francis Hauze with 13 kills. Pedro Castillo had 11 kills and five digs while Brayden Richardson had 20 assists and five digs as well.
