Crimson Wave Volleyball loses to St. Francis 3-1
The Crimson Wave Women's Volleyball team traveled to St. Francis University, and despite close scores lost 3-1; 21-25, 25-19, 15-25, 22-25.
In the first set, CCSJ started off slow, and when the score was 6-14 the Wave took off to begin closing the gap and fight till the end, but lost 21-25. Going into the 2nd set, the Crimson Wave continued their momentum from the end of the 1st set to start ahead of the Fighting Saints and maintained their lead the entire set, winning 25-19 and forcing a fourth set. In the 3rd set, St. Francis had several long runs that allowed them to take the lead over CCSJ quickly, winning that set 25-15 over the Wave. In the final set, the Crimson Wave started off close behind St. Francis, but continued to fight and close the gap, even taking a short lead over the Fighting Saints. The Crimson Wave kept up with St. Francis, but after two long runs St. Francis took the lead and held off the Crimson Wave, winning the 4th set 25-22.
Diana Ortuno led the Crimson Wave with 14 kills, Virginia Romero had 18 assists, Emma Sweeney had 11 digs, and Makayla Watts and Sincere Northern had 4 blocks.
The Crimson Wave Women's Volleyball are back on the road Saturday, Oct. 30th to play at Governors State at 7 PM.
